Air Sandwiches

This is my favorite phrase of the week : "Air Sandwich"

You might say it was two pieces of bread with nothing in the middle.

But my favorite definition is by Nilofer Merhcant in Business Week

An Air Sandwich is what happens when the leadership within an organization issues orders from 80,000 feet and lobs them down to the folks at 20,000 feet. Without the benefit of feedback, questions, or even a reality check from below, this strategy isn't destined for blazing success.

You walk into a meeting and the "the on-high" announces a new plan, and the first words that pop into you head are "yes, but."  Then you know they are serving air sandwiches.
