"Doc, give me the most powerful placebo you've got."
In my imagination, that will be wonderful solution to the health care debate. Maybe it is not so far-fetched.
On the "under-reported" segment of WNYC Radio's The Leonard Lopate Show (10/10/09) Mr. Lopate notes that in some trials sugar pills are outperforming sugar pills.
The information comes from Wired writer Steve Silberman, whose complete article is "Placebos are Getting More Effective. Drugmakers Are Desperate to Know Why."
Perhaps the next wonder drug will turn out to be Skittles Candy.
Look out Big Pharma.
